Sectoral overview

In ranking the top companies in the 10 sectors within the FA100, once again we judged each company in the reconstituted FA100 on four key metrics. Within the 10 sectors, each company scored points on their 2004 year-end revenues, profits, one-year revenue growth and return on equity (ROE).

For each of the four metrics, the corporation at the top of the sectoral table was awarded 10 points, with the following companies receiving votes in a descending numerical order, ie nine votes for second place, one vote for 10th. In those sectors in the FA100 with over 10 constituents, only the 10 strongest companies received votes. In sectors with less than 10 members, the same descending vote formula was applied.

The final tallies were determined through adding points over the four metrics and appear without any weighting by FinanceAsia.
